There are two metal marker disks on the summit placed by the U.S. Geological Survey
and dated ten years apart, one of which is visible here. Hopefully the mountain didn't move
much during that interval.
There is also this memorial stone. I personally don't like this practice. If it catches on,
these summits could come to resemble cemetaries rather than unspoiled places to enjoy the wonders of nature.
Imagine a few dozen of these things up here in different shapes and colors. If it gets out of hand I could
see some organization like the park service having to remove these artifacts,
but it wasn't for me to disturb this marker, so I merely noted it and wondered who this 31 year old man was.
